Courses CAVERN, INTRO and FULL CAVE - INFO:
CAVERN Diver Course
Through the cavern diver
course the open water scuba diver will get trained to dive into a cave. The
diver will learn how to manage this type of dive, with different type of
equipments to the traditional ones and with techniques tailor made for
underwater caves. Indeed cavern diving is a special dive, it could be in a
spring, in a siphon inside a cavity, in a marine cave and it must be managed
with an appropriate vision of the dive. A cave is not dangerous but in must be
respected and discovered in an appropriate way.
The course duration is
three days full immersion, theory and two dives with tank filled with air,
learning how to dive into a cave following the string.
INTRO to CAVE Course
Through the intro to
cave course the scuba diver will learn all the different techniques and
equipments to dive into a cave, in an independent way. All the exercises
executed during the course are aiming to develop the manual ability necessary to
manage the Arianne rope (direct or indirect cause of more then 50% of the
accidents in a cave), to improve knowledge of appropriate gas consumption from
the tanks and to increase knowledge of self rescue techniques.
All the exercises in
water are tailor made with the constant presence of the instructor evaluating
all the difficulties to discuss about them after the dive. The training during
the day is hard: from 9 o’clock in the morning up to dinner time.
The course duration is
seven days with the following sections:
-day one: theory,
equipment preparation and first dive in a spring and into a cave to get familiar
with the environment. De-briefing after the dive. Simulation outside water of
the exercises for the following day with theory.
-day two: simulation
outside water, equipment preparation and dive into a spring with exercises to
place the string into the cave. De-briefing after the dive. Exercises outside
water.
-day three: after
simulations and equipment preparation we reach a spring with a shape different
from the previous one but made to dive and place the string into the cave.
De-briefing after the dive and visit of
St.Cirq Lapopie.
-day four: preparation
to dive into a cavity. Exercises are aiming to progress with the string and to
the autonomy with tanks. De-briefing after the dive and visit of
Rocamadour
and
Rocher des Aigles.
-day five: theory with
demonstration of string search. Equipment preparation and dive into a cavity
with the execution of the exercise demonstrated. De-briefing after the dive.
Simulation of exercises to execute the following day.
-day six: with different
variants, executions of “Demelage” exercises, to get aware of the manual ability
got to use the reel and to manage the string. De-briefing after the dive and
visit to the
Pech Merle
cave where it is possible to admire paintings of Palaeolithic age.
-day seven: preparation
to dive into a cavity, with exercises aiming to progress with the string and
tanks autonomy. De-briefing after the dive and final written exam.
During the course the
dives will be in four different caves for shapes and types of entrances.
FULL CAVE Course
The full cave course
allows to learn deeply and better the techniques to progress for long distances
or in special environments and it must be done only after the intro to cave
course.
The exercises are aiming
to manage long dives, progressions post-siphon and tight environments. The most
difficult ones like transportation of tanks “in the English way” or by hands are
executed in total safety, in the right environments with distances of several
meters and limited dimensions. The instructor is always very close and always
able to help avoiding risks in a very difficult environment. All the exercises
in water are tailor made with the instructor observing the mistakes to discuss
after the dive.
The training is starting
everyday at 9 o’clock up to dinner time with theory and practical part.
The course duration is
seven days with the following sections:
-day one: theory,
emergency exercises to be executed at the entrance of the cave, positioning of
the spring far away from the entrance and coming back, exercises to evaluate
self autonomy. De-briefing after the dive.
-day two: theory about
the best techniques to dive into a bottle neck with tanks in hand and equipment
suggestions. Dive into a spring, with variants in the execution. De-briefing
after the dive.
-day three: theory about
tank transportation in the “English way”, equipment preparation and dive into a
spring. De-briefing after the dive.
-day four: dive with
tanks in the English way in a spring and overtaking of two siphons. De-briefing
after the dive. Visit of
Gouffre de Padirac.
-day five: theory about
“rélé” utilisation in environments with post siphon. Dive into a spring with
environments post siphon. De-briefing after the dive. Visit to La cave cavern.
-day six: theory about
“rélé” utilisation in springs. Dive into a spring. De-briefing after the dive.
Visit of Calvignac or St.Cirq Lapopie.
-day seven: Dive into a
spring with decompression simulation. De-briefing after the dive and final
written exam.
During the course the
dives will be in four or five different caves for shapes and types of entrances.
